Project: LiCor Phase 5 Addition. This is a two-story brick building that increases the existing biotechnology division by 43,000 square feet and allows for future expansion on the second floor.

Dates of Execution: March 23, 1999 - August 31,2000

Client: Bill Biggs

Project Summary: The heart of this building is the molecular biology lab where state of the art equipment has been included among the many workstations.

Self Analysis: The rich contemporary style of the addition contrasts with the previous metal buildings. But the new building is more appropriate for a high-tech industry that designs DNA sequencers. The conservative campus for this $20 million business needed something more to house the company’s incredibly gifted minds. The spacious lunchroom and adjacent open courtyard, with grass and trees, make this a more attractive workplace.

Results/Personal Information: An intensive team effort was necessary to accomplish this project. In addition to the parking plan, taking off red lines, and drafting, I also contributed my lab experiences gained from working with the Square ‘D’ Company.
