Project:  Willowbrook Shopping Center is a development that I have been involved with since June 1998. Much of my work to this date has been synthesizing plans from our consultants with those of Home Depot, Albertsons, and other prospective tenants. After having the basic ingredients together, I then proceeded to prepare presentation drawings to be shown to members of the surrounding communities, the city council, and planning department.

Dates of Execution:  June 6, 1998 – Current

Client: Mary Jo Livingston – Developer

Project Summary: Low impact in terms of sound, lighting, and traffic. Aesthetically pleasing with cultured stone veneer buildings and a thick barrier of trees surrounding the building site. Several concessions were made to appease the community such as decreasing the number and kinds of businesses that would normally generate a great deal of traffic and increasing the tree mass along the edge of the adjacent highway.

Self Analysis: The renderings helped sell the project to the planning department and helped to ease the concerns of the neighbors who live near the development. My familiarity with the use-permit application process from previous projects, helped me to quickly identify and fulfill the requirements for this project.

Results/Personal Information: Among the nearby residents who might be visually impacted by the development, I was able to determine that at most 50 could see it from their own property if they were to stand on their rooftops and look toward the 35 acres site.
